Hi-I'm New (Please Read)

Hi, I'm new here, thought I'd say hello and introduce myself.

My names Joseph, I'm 15 and am learning the ropes on the way to becoming a Director (sounds a little optimistic, but hey)

I've written two completed screenplays this year (81 and 93 pages respectively) the latter being the first part in a sci-fi trilogy that I finished yesterday (and have written 20 pages of the second part today)

Now, tell me what you think-In ten years time will this still sound like a huge-Matrix rip-off (though it's not supposed to be)

It's the year 3012, and a religious government have been leading the World for decades now, wiping out any country that disagrees. Abortion, homsexuality and such is all banned, and the headquarters, a huge tower in the middle of a derelict New York City, is home to a huge lobby-A lobby *****d with a Machine army.

You have to be well-dressed and walk in straight liens in the street, or you are killed on the spot.

However, two computer hackers stumble across the mainframe adn ahck into it-Disrupting the cyborgs.

When a MAfia Hitman comes round to collect his money, the hackers tell him what they have done-And he calls in his Godfather, who assembles an army.

A battle wages, and eventually, a group of Cybwerpunks turn up and what's rest of the group break into the lobby.

A viscious war rages, and the President says there's only one way to win-Load the machines self-aware program.

Only thing is, once they become self-aware, they spill out onto the streets-And in PArt 2, a computer hacker comes face to face with his destny-To lead the rebels in the war against the machines-And eventually end the evil dictators time in power.

Now in part 2, the history of the givernment coming to leadership is explained a bit in depth (I've already send off my first script that I finished yesterday to be published, so I can tell you some things) and in the second part you find out about this warped-Catholic-esque Leaders vs. Holy Monks storyline that has been brewing for centuries.

So, is it too hard to get, or a shambolic Terminator-Matrix rip-off (which only just came to me this morning)

An interesting idea, but I think many of your main plot points have been done before on many other films...

but I wouldn't worry about that [img]wink.gif[/img]

Write it. Shelve it. Wait for this genre to become popular again and see what you can do with it. But most importantly try and make it unique. Not necessarily original but unique.

If you are very worried about it being too similar to the Matrix, just remember that if it doesn't made into a film - all experience is good experience.

Just remember that the first Matrix film was "inspired" by Manga cartoons.....my point is, everything starts from inspiration from somewhere.
